Cary’s 25th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration

You have probably heard of Kwanzaa but if you haven’t brushed up on your holidays from the around the world lately, it is a celebration of African heritage. Here is your chance to take part in a cultural tradition for the whole family and set your intentions for the upcoming year! 

This is the 25th Annual Cary Kwanzaa Celebration! This celebration highlights the African holiday of Cary Kwanzaa and the associated heritage of the African-American people that celebrate it. 

The festival keynote will be Dr. Maulana Karenga. Dr. Karenga is the creator of the pan-African cultural holiday Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles) and author of the authoritative text titled Kwanzaa: A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture.

Kwanzaa is a celebration for all people, focusing on family, friends and the fruits of the earth. During Kwanzaa, people are invited to ponder the Nguzo Saba, seven powerful principles derived from African heritage, as a means of taking stock, celebrating achievements and entering the future refreshed and renewed. It is a contemplation of it means to be African but also human.
